- May 11 [1932] Prospected all morning +
finally located a spot yielding
some fairly good colour. Took out
10 pans from this spot + got a little
gold. Put our rocker together.
Shot a specimen of Marmota
monax petrensis. These animals are
very quiet indeed making no
noise whatever + live in burrows
under the roots of trees on
the steep banks with a southern
exposure where the woods have
either been burned off or are
very open. Lots of Gold. Cr. Sp. [Golden-crowned sparrows]
+ Lincoln Sparrows, saw a Coopers
hawk, Lutescent Warbler
Cariboo Slim trapper + prospector
tells me that his partner took
4 Fisher last winter, one of
which fetched $269. Lynx, Fox
Coyote, Beaver, Mink + Fisher
are the chief furbearers.
