Both streams minor tributaries of the
Skagit River near the International
boundary. Longtitude [longitude] 121 [degree symbol] 15' [minutes] W [west].
Beyond [word crossed out] Two [illegible word crossed out] spotted owls were taken by
Harrold + R.A. Cummings in West Vancouver.
The first bird was shot by a fireman near
[illegible word] + was preserved by Harrold
when it was about to have its wings cut off.
The date Nov. [November] [space left blank] 1927.
Cummings collected his in heavy forest
near Eagle Harbour, Date [space left blank with "?" in middle]
A spotted owl was also collected by
H.M. Laing, 2 mi [miles] W. [west] of Huntingdon B.C. [British Columbia] in
19 [space left blank for year]. When collecting for National Museum
Ottawa, Ont. [Ontario] to which place the specimen
was sent.
The spotted owls sent to the Nat [National] Museum by T.L. Thacker of
Hope B.C. [British Columbia] were collected by a trapper named
Richmond, who has a house in Hope +
a trapping shack on the Skagit. This per Lindsay
Thacker.
Vancouver B.C. [British Columbia] Feby. [February] 15. 1939. Today
recd. [received] a [male symbol] spotted owl from T.L. Thacker, Mrs Thacker
in her letter of Feby [February] 13/39 [1939] requests that I skin the
bird + send it to the National Museum, Ottawa.
Made up the bird today + details are as
follows. Shot Feby [February] 13. 1939. a.m. [morning] by TL Thacker
near Little Mtn [mountain] Hope B.C. [British Columbia] was sitting in fence post by
