[To the right of the title, in blue:] In ancient China, there was a famous man named Bo Le who was skilled in recognizing fine (thousand Chinese miles a day) horses. Once he encountered a horse pulling a heavy salt-cart, too exhausted to run. After Bo Le spoke highly of it, everyone realized that it was a valuable fine horse. The painting depicts Bo Le passing on to his son his ability to recognize fine horses.
