Poster 1 [left-hand panel; poem 1:] A little hero on the Long March, What a forceful figure he makes; Snowy mountains resound with his noble ideals, Broad grasslands retain his singing. His bamboo clappers rattle like a war-drum, His voice spurs his comrades to scale high peaks; His bones are hardened by the trials they have undergone, His red star [cap-badge] lights the way ahead. [right-hand panel; slogan to cartoon:] Down with Japanese Imperialism! [poem 2:] Little Eighth Route Army girl, her spirits high, The battle-brush in her hand wielded like a lance; As she goes down thoroughfares and alleys, The spark of revolution is spread on all sides. Her straw sandals bear the dust of the Great Wall, Her uniform is dyed by the waves of the Yellow River; Where she marches, wind and clouds shift; Anti-Japanese spring thunder peals across the land. Poster 2 [left-hand panel; slogans on tree:] Down with Chiang Kai-shek! Liberate the whole of China; [poem 3:] At a major crossroads, by the scholar-tree, He stands guard in wind and rain, Watching the roads, taking messages, Capably protecting against traitors and spies. Resolute enough to endure any hardship, Brave enough to fight savage beasts; A bold-spirited children’s brigade member, The red tassel [on his lance] fluttering to welcome the light of dawn. [right-hand panel; heading on notice-board:] Steadfastly continue the revolution under the dictatorship of the proletariat! [vertical slogan in white:] Enthusiastically support Revolutionary New Things, foster the communist spirit [caption to illustration:] Going to the countryside is glorious! [book title:] Marx, Engels and Lenin on the dictatorship of the proletariat [poem 4:] She wears the red scarf on her chest, I am the new generation of the revolution; Continuing the fine revolutionary tradition, Vigorously heading into the future. Enthusiastically praising new things, A golden sun warms my heart; Thoroughly condemning the old world, Vowing to keep our nation red for generations to come.
