- General Map Showing Reserves
- Description:
- Vancouver Island and the coast of British Columbia and Washington State published according to Act of Parliament at the Hydrographic Office of the Admiralty on February 28th, 1849, with corrections made 1859-1861 and sold by J.D. Potter an agent for the Admiralty charts. The map has many place names labeled and notes including those about land cover, when it snows in areas, and a village called C. Mudge where all the men have muskets. There are many small areas highlighted in red all along the coast of Vancouver Island showing where the reserves are. Along the left and bottom sides of the map there are sketches of the views of the landscape at various points on the map taken from Cooks and Vancouver Voyage including Bonilla Point, entrance of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Cape Classet or Flattery, Nisco Point, Flattery Rocks, Nootka Sound, and Cape Alava. Soundings recorded in fathoms are throughout the areas of water.
