11. Pandora's Box Gallery Scrapbook
- Title:
- Pandora's Box Gallery Scrapbook
- Description:
- Scrapbook compiled by Bente Rehm about Pandora's Box Gallery and the art scene in Victoria B.C. in the 1960's. Caption on first page reads: "The Finlayson Building on Wharf Street is one of the largest fieldstone buildings still standing in Victoria, BC. Built in 1882, #1208, where Pandora's Box Gallery was located 1966-1970, was originally a munitions warehouse. A young man, Vince Rickard, set up a print shop in the cavernous space 2 floors below the gallery. It was windowless, but had huge wooden doors that opened onto a wharf where schooners of yore unloaded their cargoes. In collaboration with Bente Rehm, Vince designed and silk-screened many of the PBG invitations and posters found in the album and went on to establishing a successful printing company." Items within the scrapbook include a ticket stub for a Beatles concert in Vancouver that cost $3.25, ephemera related to St. Margaret's School, articles about Siebner's murals around Victoria and the controversy surrounding hanging his impressionistic study of the Inner Harbour at Victoria City Hall, meeting minutes from Jan 22, 1965 to establish a non-profit society for the Promotion of Arts and Crafts in the city of Victoria, articles about the gallery and its exhibitions by Robin Skelton, a greeting card from Siebner on Page 14 of the scrapbook, an article about Jean Jaques Andre choosing Vancouver over Victoria for a show featuring his nude paintings and another about him designing new "tow-away zone" signs for the city, newspaper ads for Pandora's Box, articles about artists featured at the gallery, articles about a fire at the gallery that destroyed some art pieces and a benefit sale to recoup costs from it, the Vitamin C Boutique located next to the gallery, ads and notices for the gallery's exhibitions and shows, ad for re-opening the gallery on Wharf Street, sketches, series of photos of the gallery space, and collected signatures from the opening night of Pandora's Box Gallery on March 2nd, 1966 among many others.

- Title:
- Pandora's Box Gallery group photo
- Description:
- A photograph of a group of men sitting and standing around Pandora's Box Gallery's doorway. Photo's caption reads "Not sure of the year of this photo, but it must have been taken right aroud the time the PBG opened in 1966. It was Flemming Jorgensen's birthday; he is in the doorway, and it was obviously a bachelor party. I did not attend, but my ex-husband Gerhard Rehm did, as he was friends with most of them; he's the hunk in black sweater and light pants standing beside Robin Skelton. The others are Herbert Siebner, Ricki Cicimarra, Maxwell Bates, Robin Skelton, John Andre, Colin Graham of the AGGV and Karl Spreitz. The man seated below Max I do not recognize, and the one standing beside Karl is George Odier, a friend of John Andre's"
