- Dear Contributors of the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association and Zhao Yi Association,
We have been keeping up a regular correspondence for a long time, but we do not have the honor to meet you personally. It is late spring with fine weather. We hereby send our best regards to you from afar. Last month we received a letter telling that drought was spreading to many districts in the west part of Guangdong Province and asking for relief aid. We raised over $5,000 and sent to Guang Ren Shan Tang to forward to the stricken area. However, the drought is so severe and the stricken area is so wide, the funds are inadequate to meet the demand. Further news reached us that the situation is far more severe in the Districts like Yunxun, Longheng. There is great shortage of food, resulting in the rapid going up of the rice price. People are fleeing from famine. Some even sell their children for food. Many die of starvation. We have tried our best to contribute. But Hong Kong is a small peninsular with limited resources. We venture to ask you for help: We sincerely hope that you can try your best to contribute and help appeal for contributions from all who are willing to. One more life is saved with one more dollar is raised.
Yours sincerely
