- Alces.
both these calves gave a call very
much like that of a calf elk -
a high pitched bleat.
Beaver Lake - June 7/46 [1946].
2 bull Moose one browsing aspen
5 min. [minutes], the other a marsh grass or
sedge - unidentified.
Jasper. June 18/46 [1946].
At Henry House flats examined a
cow? dead about a month. Head
gone but rest of carcase [carcass]
fairly intact.
Emigrants Peak. June 22/46 [1946].
On the way up here saw one cow moose
but moose sign is quite abundant all
the way up.
Banff. July 3/46 [1946]
Saw 4 bulls + 3 cows in
2nd lake today +
1 cow + 1 yearling at Wigmore Creek.
Green estimates about 30 moose
between here and Castle.
Field July 4/46 [1946].
2 cows each with one calf.
1 2 yr [year] old bull.
Injuries [underlined]:- The latter had the right fore
leg badly swollen below the canon
+ the animal limped heavily.
Banfield reports a cow at Graveyards
with a greatly swollen lower leg -
perhaps a healed fracture.
