Dear Mother ari. Dad,-
Really don't feel at all in a writing mood this evening, tut in view of the fact that a Canadian mail came in today, guess I'd tetter get busy and finish my tale of our trip down South,trusting that my imagination will te stimulated as I go along,
Row I'm not going to tell you of our visit to Rice dayty day for the days there were all spent pretty \\elZ~ alike. You see Rice hasn't* the old historical places to visit that Paris and London have so there reslly isn't a great deal to talk about. The chief attraction for us in-Rice was the promenade dee Anglais, very similar to the Prcm des Croisettes in Cannes, only longer. We usually had our breakfast between 9 end 10, after which we wandered dowm to the Prom and basked in the sunshine till noon. Our afternoons were often enent in the same way.
In times of peace Rice has a population of 120,000, which is increased during the "season" to over 200,000. There were quite a, * few visitors down there when we were there, so we were informed but of course not to be compared with peace times. As we hadn't fixed it up ? with the A.p.M, to stay there, we put up at a rather quiet hotel - the Lutelia, and went to the Riviera Tea, Rooms for our meals. The latter is run by an Irish lady. Come to think of it, I believe I told you that in my last;
Rext evening
Couldn't make the grade last night- too many interruptions. The dag attached, to our billet for rations had a grudge against the world in general last night, and persisted in voicing his complaints to the whole neighborhood. Then too, a pair of cats not a thousand miles away were having a family squabble, so I gave it up as a bad job.. Tonight however, it is raining, so I guesp I ought to be able to finish this job. And "jobf it is too, believe me. Will be glad when I've finished.
Sent you quite a batch of post cards a. few days ago, which will give you a good idea of what the country is like down there, better in fact than I could, describe it.
