- July 3rd [1942] Day commenced clear as previous
days but clouded over by 2 P.M. with
thunder - New trap line disappointing!
no red-backed voles. 1 toad, 4 peromyscus [deer mice].
Relocated stub containing flying (?) squirrel nest
in A.M. [morning]. Munros packing to move to Horse Lake.
Cut down stub in P.M. [evening] and collected
female flying squirrel (shot) + one young, alive
Thunder storm passed at some distance,
small shower.
July 4 Saturday [1942] - Munros left 6 A.M.
In P.M. [evening] we drove along road to Lac la Hache
station + later along highway as far as
108 Mile Lake, stopping at several points.
Fished in evening with no luck. Heavy
thunderstorm about 10 P.M. Short heavy
shower + strong wind threatening to blow
down trees around camp. Set steeltraps for
weasels.
July 5 Sunday [1942] - Caught large, exceedingly
fat female skunk at old community hall:
also pack rat. Spent several hours making
+ salting skunk skin. Supper at
Forbes - Fished again; losing large char.
Set line for ling [cod].
July 6 [1942] Picked up all traps (1 toad, 1 thrush only)
+ picked up set line, nothing. Made trip to
Nightjar's nest but found eggs not yet hatched; No pictures
Checked tires for nails, started packing. Saw Forbes re [regarding] fish.
