Re GONZALES HILL OBSERVATORY LAND
To the Hon: Allan McKinnon P.C. M.P.
House of Commons Parliament Buildings
Wellington Street
Ottawa Ont, K1A 0A4
Dear Mr. McKinnon
I am writing to you as one of your concerned constituents to express my indignation at the highhanded + shortsighted intention of the Federal Government to sell for subdivision the entire parcel of public land surrounding Gonzales Hill Observatory.
This land, which is irreplaceable both from the historic + scenic points of view, belongs to all the public, who pay our share of Federal Taxes.
It is Pitiable that politicians in Ottawa would lend themselves to such an inappropriate “real estate deal” when they have the excellent precedents of the disposition of Fort Road, Mount Douglas, Triangle Mountain + the top of Mount Tolmie, amongst others.
The federal government would be acting wisely + with foresight if they would transfer the entire parcel ? of public land surrounding the Gonzales Hill Observatory Heritage sale to the City of Victoria in order to officially create a park
