- Monday Nov 9th Two more drafts of Before Bedlam . Laura wrote 25 letters and I several more. Mary Hale came. * Cockt BBC sherry party at Maisie's. Present among others 'Diccon' Steel and Stephen Potter. Then David Reeves came & with him & Maisie & Norman Lloyd Williams to a Reception at the Burgess Hill School where the young progressive masters stated their policy in illiterate English. (Naomi Mitchison there.) At Guy's snackbar lately late, eating ices and reading of rebel ill-success at Madrid.
