Posthumous papers of the Pickwick Club, no. 13
Tells the story of Samuel Pickwick, a good natured elderly gentleman, president of the Pickwick Club. With three other members of the club, Pickwick travels around the English countryside, where he becomes caught up in a series of comic adventures, and romantic and legal misunderstandings. Although light in tone, the novel foreshadows the social concerns that would emerge in Dickens' later work. Issued monthly from April 1836 to November 1837. Chapters 34-36: Chapter 34: In which Mr. Pickwick thinks he had better go to Bath; and goes accordingly Chapter 35: The chief feature of which will be found to be an authentic version of the legend of Prince Bladud, and a most extraordinary calamity that befell Mt. Winkle Chapter 36: Honourably accounts for Mr. Weller's absence, by describing a soiree to which he was invited and went -- also relates how he was entrusted by Mr. Pickwick with a private mission of delicacy and importance.
