PublicA volume of Sir Orfeur Cavenagh's private letterbooks from his time as Governor of the Straits Settlements (Singapore, Malaya, and Penang) from 1859-1867. Materials included also provide insight into his military career in India and Nepal (1837 -1858). Orfeur was an army officer and colonial governor (1820-1891), who served as the last India-appointed Governor of the Straits Settlements. Topics mentioned in this volume include discussing his correspondence with the King of Siam, updates on the hiring and transfers of new and old positions, and the latest on the Straits Settlements.
