Part of a collection of letters to John Betjeman from Joe Randolph "J. R." Ackerley (writer and literary editor of the BBC's weekly magazine The Listener, and open homosexual). Ackerley lets Betjeman know that his editor would like a Christmas poem with a "1940 flavour".
