Web of life 12 : table manners

This half-hour series was broadcast in four runs from 1959 to 1963, except 1962. It started as a twenty-six week examination of different forms of animal life, and added more programs in subsequent years. The series was hosted, written and narrated by Dr. Ian McTaggart-Cowan. For all animals, food is the most serious struggle part for existence. In this episode Dr. Cowan divided animals in two groups as plant eater and meat eater, and introduced different eating ways, including grinding, shifting, vacuum cleaning, swallowing the whole prey and catching a large prey and tearing it apart to eat. It also depicted the eating habits of animals including herbivores on land such as elephant, reptiles such as African chameleon, and underwater carnivores such ad moon snail.
