In his investigation of the parasites of
hill sheep he has about 700 autopsies +
thousands of fecal samples.
Faeces are collected fresh in cheesecloth,
placed in light 1 pint jars without additional
moisture (how does he prevent mould) + incubated
in a room kept at 25 [degree symbol] C. for 10 days to 3 weeks
or more.
The faeces are then transferred to one of
a battery of 8" funnells [funnels] each equipped with
a rubber "nipple" + clamp. The jar is filled
with warm water + poured over the faeces.
The larvae settle to the bottom + are drawn
off. + formalized for later identification
The staff consists of Dun MacIntosh, 1
records girl + 3 assistants.
The only special equipment is an incubator
in which temp [temperature] is controllable from - 18 to 18 [degree symbol] C [Celsius].
He can alternate temps. [temperatures] between day + night.
He is investigating fluctuations in parasite
load with season, age of host, locality +
