- the Baltic. Copenhagen harbour is entered through
a narrow breakwater opening + this gives
access to a free port on the right, lined with
smart brick warehouses and a long canal
extending into the heart of the city, large
vessels were docked alongside this + two
or three smaller canals lead from it up
the centre of city streets. Here smaller
vessels - up to 80 ft or so were loading
direct from the street. The two ships
of the Danish Navy, the king's yacht,
a huge whale factory ship + many yachts
rode at anchor; there were large shipyards
on the east of the harbor entrance.
We landed almost in front of the
Royal Palaces of which there are four
arranged around an open circle.

cathedral lay straight ahead. I photographed
this scene.
I took a taxi to my hotel, a small
one the Norrevold on [space left blank] street.
+ there Finn Salomonsen met me + we
went over to the museum. The museum
+ library along with several other university
buildings are part of the old town, built
in the 15th century + some of it about 1100.
