- Wynn Edwards [Vero Copner Wynne-Edwards] paper was most informative + I have
noted the following.
1. Climatic Changes in northern Continental Europe are real.
Mean increase in north 3-5 [degree symbol]/
winter increase in Finland 2-3 [degree symbol].
East Greenland winters are 5-7 [degree symbol] warmer.
Utah Salt Lake has lost 50% of its volume in 50 yrs [years].
Caspian Sea + other Steppe lakes are drying up.
Pack ice of northern Asia has receded until
almost 100 ships ply the N.E. [northeast] passage annually.
Britain has not shared this warm up.
Only abou [about] .7 [degree symbol] mean annual increase + coldest
winter temperatures are now lower.
The mildest climate in N [Northern] Europe + Britain
since the ice age was about 5000 B.C. [Before Christ]
This coexisted with early norse colonization
of Greenland. Until about 1100 or so they
still buried their dead, cultivated grain +
raised sheep in Greenland. When they died out
they were unable to do any of these things.
In the last 5000 years the diff [difference] between
mild periods + cold periods has not exceeded the
diff. [difference] between good years + bad.
Notes from Dr Campbells paper on Gray Lag geese
2 prs [pairs] in 15 years have become 200 (prs [pairs] or birds?)
1 pr [pair] has become 40 prs [pairs] in 14 yrs [years]
