Area 1A The main vegetation by the
stream itself is the cottonwood
1A7.
Found.
Mammals.
Chipmunks:- 10 to this area, chiefly
on drier portions associated with
the saskatoon b. [berry], maple, + snowberry.
though occassionally [occasionally] in clumps
of cottonwood.
Squirrel:- 1, among firs on drier
benches.
Groundhogs. 5, Burrows in clay
banks adjoining grassy areas
along the stream. These animals
are losing ground, on account
of the proximity to town +
the resultant exposure to
the boy with the rifle.
Many untenanted burrows are
to be seen along the cliffs.
Pocket Gophers:- 5 on drier benches
where sage predominates, but
I took 3 among the maple
clumps, all in one lot of workings
