One family of groundhogs, consisting
of a mother + 7 young
inhabited a piece of stove
drain pipe about 250 ft [crossed out] yds [yards]
long. at interval of about
50 yds [yards] there were entrances
into the pipe. The pipe was
buried for most of its length.
6 Ground hogs taken on
large talus slopes near
road at Lodwick's had
no ticks. One groundhog
taken alive.
July 5. [1929] Monte Cr. [Creek] BC. [British Columbia] Fine
Took 1 squirrel in Jack Pine area;
it had 36 ticks on it, many
of them engorged adults.
Took 1 chipmunk in river bottom
area, had 2 warbles but no
ticks. This animal was white underneath
July 6 [1929] Monte Cr. [Creek] alt [altitude] 1500. Fine
2 white footed mice, no ticks.
White feet. common along river
bottom. 3 pocket gophers
