- July 3 [1961]
Pushed off, heavily laden at
9:00, on a calm, sunny morning
taking 3 hours to get to Skedans.
Nothing of note en route. Unloaded
+ set up camp among tipsy totems.
After snack headed out in boat to
check Skedans Islands. Eagles nest
40' up spruce on first island. On
outer island fine view of sea
lions (about 70) lolling on the rocks.
Set 40 traps, each, on inner
2 islands ([sum symbol] = 160 traps)
In Skedans bay failed to locate
any Bear carcasses as [Doug] McIntyre
thought we would. Caught enough
trout for supper. Shot doe which
got scrambled inside falling down
cliffs. Hope for perfect weather
to continue
Shot marten on beach. [female symbol]
