Taijima Seitaro is seen murdering his second wife after she tells him he is too old and wants to leave him. He is later arrested by the police.
1.23 Hanai Oume Killing Kamekichi 1887

Hanai Oume, the owner of a restaurant, killed a man she knew named Kamekichi who had at�tacked her. She was sentenced to life imprison�ment. The trial made her famous and plays and novels were written about her. In 1903 she was parolled and made a living by public recitations of her story.

Drunken employee tries to kill dishonourable su�pervisor, Sohichi, at Osaka Dress Shop of Mitsui Company. The customers in the shop stop him in time.

The impending arrest of dissident Kato, who had formerly been known as Eto. Before his arrest he calmly wrote a letter to Meiji government officials praising them.
