Banff. May 19/45 [1945]
Examined ewe + yearling dead in
Lake Minnewanka after going through
the ice. Ewe had lung worm
but not seriously.
Breeding:- Ewe contained a ram lamb
nearing term - preserved.
Saskatchewan Crossing May 23/45. [1945]
Counted about 12 sheep on the s. [south] slope of
Mt [Mount] Wilson.
Banff July 4/45 [1945]
Sheep count. 18 [male symbol] 20 [female symbol] 13 l. [lambs]
At least 5 of the [female symbol]'s were yearlings.
Some of these sheep were feeding
on the summit w [west] slope of Mt [Mount] Edith.
Athabasca Falls. July 6/45.[1945]
Found a kill - a 10 yr [year] old ram
35 1/2" - up [word crossed out] no apparent tooth trouble
Had been eaten on the rock slide
above the wolf den but condition
of skull + [illegible word] bones heads one
to the conclusion cougar responsible.

Not many sheep here since the
epidemic (septicemia) in 1936 +/- took its
toll. Used to be many large sheep
here. There is now a band of 11-16 head
