No sign of a summer or winter pop [population]
on hills between here + Rock Creek. Trails
on E [east] side of Rock Creek appear to be
sheep trails. No sheep to be seen + the area
may support only a transient population.
Blue Creek Cabin. Aug [August] 18/43 [1943]
Warden Bob Jones reports up to 24
head of sheep winter on W. [west] face of
ancient wall. In April he + Clark saw
sheep on bare ridges across from
Willow Creek.
Topaz Shelter. Aug. [August] 20/43 [1943].
Found some old sheep tracks near
natural arch. These sheep summer
on head of Sulphur River but a small
band comes over here to winter.
Jones save 24 in 1941-42, 12 in 1942-43.
Hoodoo Cabin. Aug. [August] 23/43 [1943].
Enemies:- Bob Jones tells me that in
June 1941 at Shalebanks he saw
a Grizzly catch a sheep. It ran
it into the river + caught it by
the back.
Jasper, Alta. [Alberta] Sept. [September] 6/43 [1943]
Saw 2 old + 1 4 yr [year] ram at Devona.
[Frank] Burstrom reports 25 ewes + lambs
yesterday.

[Frank] Wells reports sheep wintering on slopes behind
the falls + on slopes above Wilcox Pass.
