Jasper, Alta. [Alberta] Dec. [December] 24/44 [1944].
Yesterday saw a great deal of elk sign

+ the Eleagnus making virtually no
new growth.

2 mile N [north] of Jasper.
9 cows with 3 calves.
2 bulls, 11 cows + 5 calves
1 [male symbol] 2 [female symbol] 1 calf - townsite.
Food:- grass 595 minutes
Douglas fir. 10 "
Stomach contents 95% grass
calf 5% Douglas fir.
trace bearberry
ad [adult] cow. + 95% grass fir 3% bearberry 2%
Parasites:- Winter tick nymphs fairly abundant.
Side of animals neck rubbed down
to the bases of the hair.
No lungworm
4 very active tape worms appeared to
be on the [word crossed out] a mound in the liver
but the animal was gut shot +
it is entirely possible that they
had escaped from the intestine.
These worms were so active that
I at first thought they were flukes.
