On basis of horse index of the 86
elk seen on Henry House flats 2 days
ago when calculated on the basis of
19 horses counted today + taken as total head
+ 8 seen when elk were counted
then elk herd = 19/8 x 86 = 204 head
of elk.
Kills:- Found a dead cow elk on the hill
behind town. Cause not determinable.
This animal has an interesting condition
of accessory cement deposit around
the bases of the molar teeth.

Saw one bull elk 2 miles east of cabin
Devona:- Found remains of 2 bulls dead
since last winter (1942-43) cause
of death indeterminable. Antlers on both.
