Dear Directors Ma and Liu,
I received your report on the segregation of Chinese children in public schools in Victoria. After publishing it in the newspapers in Ottawa, I immediately went to meet Sir Pope, the Canadian Vice Foreign Minister and made representations to him. With your detailed report sent on September 5th, I again took up this matter with him, and made a statement that there should be no discrimination against anyone in public education, to which the Vice Foreign Minister agreed with me. It was further agreed that I should deliver to him a letter detailing the facts, he would then write a letter to the Mayor of Victoria, requesting to cancel the segregation policy so that Chinese children can receive the same education as others. I will follow up this case.
Yours sincerely
Zhou Qi Lian,
Consul General to Canada
the Republic of China
