- Scotch Camp Aug. [August] 16, 1945.
Hot sultry day in valley, high wind on
Snow Creek Pass.
Left camp about 8:30 + rode to the
summit pausing en route to climb
onto the first pass north of the
actual summit, then climbed the pass
leading E. [East] from the summit, had
lunch on the shore of a small
rock-girt lake + came out via the
next pass south.
The entire slope of Scotch Creek
to timberline is burned off + just
a wilderness of spars. On the east
side of the pass are a series of
steep slopes of rock + grass. It seems to
me that sheep might be able to
winter on these. They are seen in
late fall + early spring on them - principally
rams. Found a 1944 winter kill
below one of these slopes.
Game 3 moose
3 elk
2 deer
2 grizzly
Scotch Camp. Aug. [August] 17, 1945
Today we rode to the head of Tyrrel
Creek + over the pass out of the
park to look down onto Forbidden
Creek + on down a long draw to
Peters Cr. [Creek], near Indianhead Cabin.
