Examined two male wolves shot
a week ago [+/-] by Warden [A.H.] White at
Decoigne.
One was pale gray, one dark
gray with black along mid back
on lower legs + on entire head.
Meas. [Measurements] [male symbol] 1885, 470, 290. Wt. [weight] 120 lbs. [pounds]
[male symbol] 1880 460, 280. " [weight] about 110 " [pounds]
Breeding [underlined]: Neither of these animals were in
breeding condition, the testes measured
just 45 mm [millimeters] in longest axis + were
pale in color. A female, wt [weight] est. [estimated] 80 [+/-]
shot April 13 or thereabout was not pregnant
Food. Both were shot at an elk kill
pulled down by wolves earlier in
April. Stomach contained elk meat
+ hair

contained only elk meat + hair.
Moult:- Both animals were rubbed badly
on the flanks + the tail was partially
shed off.
Movements + numbers:-
[Warden A.H.] White tells me that there were
wolves very active in his district in
late October but they then left
+ none showed up until about
Christmas time. Then there were about
10. These moved along + more came
