be the dominant range plant all
over the subalplands here + all
the large + small fry eat it
Saw. 12 caribou
7 willow Ptarmigan
Tonquin. Sept [September] 6/45 [1945]
Worked on camp chores - wood cutting
+ specimens in morning then in
afternoon hiked down to the ridge
of Oldhorn around the basin to
Clitheroe + back to camp. A
beautiful day with heavy clouds
over + west of Ramparts but
these dissipating over Amethyst Lake
so that all east of the lake was
in sunshine.
Plenty of old caribou sign but
none very recent.
Saw 2 goat.
1 coyote.
Tonquin. Sept. [September] 7/45 [1945]
Easterly gale all night bringing
intermittent driving rain at daylight
+ throughout the day. Wind very cold.
Stayed in camp all morning.
About noon a band of 6 caribou
came down onto the flat
Saw 6 willow Ptarmigan
