Saw 5 pairs today on small
beaver ponds. The females
showed a skulking behaviour, swimming
with tails expanded + along the surface
or slightly submerged, neck depressed
toward the water.
2 pairs were on a pond of
about 1/5th acre.
1 pair on a small lake just
north of Athabasca Falls.

Saw 2 broods of downies 1 of 9 +
1 of 7. Both in small ponds near
Talbot Lake.
