- Journal Aug 17/45 [1945]
The valley has been burned almost
all the way to the pass + all the
west facing slopes now support
good stands of grass that winter
a fair band of sheep. At higher
levels there are big grass patches
offering abundant spring + fall
grazing. At the pass elevation
on the w [west] side of the valley are
several deep draws running back
to the main massif. These are
grass covered + provide summer
range in abundance. There is
much movement of game in + out
of the park here onto the hunting
country on Forbidden Cr. [Creek] + that vicinity.
Game seen. 10 elk
12 deer
9 sheep
1 goat
2 moose
6 coyotes.
McConnell Cr. [Creek] (head of) Aug. [August] 18/1945.
