Cairn Cabin. July 11/44 [1944].
Beautiful day - rode here from Isaac
creek - distance 20 miles time 7 1/2 hrs [hours].
Some chopping + much detouring en
route.
Game 2 moose
7 elk.
1 deer
52 sheep + 10 lambs
Cairn Cabin July 12/44 [1944].
Sunshine with scattered snowflurries
+ one heavy shower toward evening.
Today we ascended the creek behind the
cabin + worked the ridges on both sides
of it. On a number of the S [South] facing
sidehills there is definite evidence
of wintering - with heavy utilization
of the sedge in particular. The
scarcity of winter kills surprises
me greatly. We have found 3 all
very old + involving old rams.

In AM went up to + autopsied sheep, this
took until 3 P.M. Later completed work on
these specimens.
