scattered patches along the west slope
of the Rocky Range.
Game Seen
4 moose

2 deer
17 sheep.
Jacques Lake. July 22/44 [1944].
Rode in from Rocky Forks in 9 1/2 hours.
Trail badly blown in must have
chopped 75 trees + untangled wire
in several other places.
Not much game seen en route but
further note taken of the extent of
the winter sheep range along the
west facing slope. At present, because
of the burn, this is very extensive
+ could support several hundred
head in small groups. 35 or 40 years
ought to see it pretty well grown
up. MacDonald [Edward McDonald] thinks the fire took
place in 1919 or 1920.

2 goat.
Medicine Lake July 23/44 [1944].
Rode over from Jacques Lake in
about 3 hrs [hours]. Fair weather in morning
started to rain about 7 P.M.
In afternoon hiked down to the lower
