About a dozen living specimens
+ several with hermits taken today.
Until this species is mature it has
a very fragile lip + this is
apparently broken almost annually.
Repairs can be seen on almost
every specimen. Can all this
damage be crab attack - if
so it might be developed into
a hazard index.
This species behaves much
like a strombus in the active
movements of its shell; The
upward stretching of the body
to move objects out of its way.
The foot + body are well marked
with sharp black streaks + splashes
on a white ground. Siphon is
very long + directed upwards. A peculiar thing
