Nov. [November] 18th.
Dec [December] 3 + 4. Mr [space left blank] Chambers saw from
50 to 60 W [Wilson's] Snipe on foreshore at
Lulu Island. Shot 8 birds He has
only seen a few birds at Sumas since
the cold snap about the middle of
November.
Nov. [November] 7th Boundary Bay. Mason AS
Bain TJ + HL Battau observed approx [approximately]
200 Wilson Snipe in fields near
River road dyke. Were flying in wisps
of 50 to 60. Five birds were shot. I visited
the same place two weeks later in company
with Mr Bain but saw no snipe. weather -
very rough with heavy rain + wind.
Dec [December] Sumas Prairie. Only one snipe seen
+ killed. It proved to be a [female symbol] juvenile still
moulting + its stomach contained. -

Dec. [December] 28. Seven Snipe were seen at the south
end of Sea Island by KR + AS Bain. Were feeding
in the swamp grass above high tide + could
hear them calling long before daylight
