- Streaked Horned Lark [all underlined] 4749.
Otocoris Alpestris Strigata [all underlined]
Lulu Isd [Island] [underlined] Terra Nova. Two seen,
flushed from grass outside dyke.
April 16th 1927
March 2, 1938. Sea Island B.C. [British Columbia] In company R E. Luscher
Dull. cool west wind. covered fields S.E. [southeast] of first
cross road, north of Eburne. About 20 or 25
birds seen. Were very wild + difficult to
approach + when disturbed usually flew
low over stubble field making them difficult
to see. Took five 4/[male symbol] + 1/[female symbol]. Testes [illegible word] very
small, the largest being 3 x 3.5 mm [millimeters] + the other
three 2.5 mm [millimeters]. Luscher took three. 2/[female symbol] + 1/[male symbol]
Lulu Isd. [Island] Dec. [December] 7. 1938. Two flocks
seen flying over fields. The largest
of the two must have contained
100 or more birds. Flew about
erratically + did not settle

Thought I heard a horned lark
singing on plowed field during the
early afternoon, but could not locate it

Cloudy but fine, occasional sunshine.
Numerous bands of horned larks in stubble fields
at end of Blundell Rd. Right side near dykes. There
in flocks of 2 or 3 to 12 or 14 individuals. Three
[male symbol] seen + or heard singing from these parts. In many
instances [Ian McTaggart] Cowan + I saw these birds paired off +
[male symbol] chasing [female symbol] - Three [male symbol] collected with testes 1 1/2, 2
+ 2 1/2 mm. [millimeters]
