- July 8 [1958] Copenhagen [underlined]
Joyce had a hairdressers
appointment at 8:30 while
I went downtown on a prowl
of book dealers. Apparently
Host is the only one now
worth bothering with
I then went over to
Robt Bechagiard + had an
interesting session with him.
Looked out several different
small town canals on Pakke
Porto [illegible word]. He has very few
recent covers. In fact my lot
is better than his. He has
a Danish Greenland Exped [Expedition]
Cover, a cover Greenland to
Denmark censored by the
Germans, a Greenland cover
franked partly with Danish
postage, which is valid.
The Pakke Porto stamps
were first produced
square edged around the
plate. Later they were
reperforated with a
distinctly different perf. [perforation]
Picked up Joyce [Cowan] + walked
over to the Angleteru for
lunch then went up the
N. [north] side of Ostergode + found that
within 2 blocks from Kovgens
Nytoru were the best porcelain,
pottery + general art objects
stores we have seen.
Museum at 2 where we met
[Magnus] Degerbol, had a short chat then
spent the afternoon measuring
muskox. The museum has
about 70 reasonably complete
skulls of all ages. All but 4 are
from Greenland + cover the
range of the animals there. Peary
land [Pearyland] to Soresbysund [Scoresby Sund]. There
are some 10-12 new skulls,
mostly [female symbol]'s from Soresbysund [Scoresby Sund]
winter 1956-57, in very good
condition. Measured 12 large
