Moisieff, Dr Paul. V.
Nachakov, students of littoral
faunas, Zool. [Zoology] Inst. [Institute] Academy
of Sciences Leningrad, V -
164, USSR.
+ Eupraxia Gurjanova same
address + really eager lady.
Ralph Bolin + she had a good
discussion of Intertidal
zonation + both discard
Stephensons zonation boxed
upon animal associates
Both agree that some
substantial + comparable
fixed levels must be
used to demonstrate shifting
of faunas up or down in
response to latidunal [latitudinal] influence
etc.
They suggest using data for
Lowest low water, highest low
water, lowest high water
+ highest high water.
because each of these
constitutes a major ecological
event for the animals.
For example an animal
just above lowest high level
will sometimes have to survive
double the usual exposure.
As the sea is never calm
the levels are not absolutely
sharp but are blended.
Back home at 6:30 P.M.
Saw Brown-headed gulls.
+ one tern.
