In the muskegs Black spruce + Labrador tea are dominants but there is a considerable amount of willow + dwarf birch + it is these that are supplying the moose + elk browse. In the drier hummocks there is some Potentilla. and marginally dogwood, aspen balsam, willow, rose, raspberry + gooseberry In the old beaver meadow as typified at mile 18 the dominant growth is willow with dwarf birch almost codominant. Some spruce on the drier elevations + labrador tea around the margins of such Scattered Jack pines in both types. In both willows seem to be of two types. a red twigged + a yellow twigged, with the latter making better growth + utilized less heavily.
