- By 1928 flying training was becoming a significant factor in civil aviation. When complaints from neighbours forced the closure of the Lansdowne field in 1931, operations were moved to a new field where the University of Victoria is now located. The new airfield was used by individual pilots, Skyroads - a flying club for boys and girls, and for air shows.
