beach at Chestermans beach.
May 28 [1931]: The mink fooled us and
kept to the next beach from
ours. It was a fine moonlight night
+ they had been romping all over
the beach. Running in pairs.
At Chestermans beach we got
6 sanderlings a dunlin + a
curlew from the small flock
at [word crossed out] fog bound there.
I noticed a single long
tailed Jaegar - the first we
have seen. He flew over
my head, flying low through
the fog + following the shore
line.
On the way home Mr [Kenneth] Racey took
a male Ruffed grouse in very
worn plumage, the ends of
the tail feather being all frayed
off. We called + shot a pigmy owl
also. This was in the same spot
as we saw the one 3 weeks ago.
May 29 Skinned all day.
May 30 [1931]. In the morning walked
down the road to the Jack
pine muskeg + spent the
morning collecting there.
Deer trails + sign plentiful
saw Stellers Jays, junco, crow
raven, Ruffed Grouse etc. etc. [etcetera etcetera]
