Traps yielded several peromyscus
and a rat. Took 2 squirrels a
mole + a female - both fairly
dark ventrally. Set a number of mouse traps in the runways on
the Reef at Chesterman's [illegible word crossed out] Bay
In the afternoon skinned the
catch of the last 2 days.
Beautiful day but a little rain
towards evening.
We again saw the birds after
the shoal of fish, this time the
birds were not in such large
numbers, fewer gulls being
present + a larger proportion
of Bairds cormorants.
May 19 [1931]. Beautiful day with a slight
southerly wind.
Took 6 Microtus tetramerus
+ 1 Peromyscus on the reef
+ 3 Pery's in the other traps.
Saw tracks of mink hunting
along the shore of the reef.
A Russet backed thrush caught
in one of the mouse traps
was almost demolished by
the mice.
Nothing in the mink traps
as yet.
Saw a flock of 50 Curlew
but the rest of the shore
birds have left.
