Canada Geese came in + landed
on the lake.
Shot a juvenile Pied billed grebe
in the river.
Aug [August] 18 [1931]. Phenacomys traps drew
another blank. Those on the far
side of the lake drew 2 peromyscus
1 Vole + one jumper
It rained all morning but
cleared up again in the
afternoon. Saw 3 Sharp shinned
hawks + took two of them
a juvenile male + female
In the evening called up
a horned Owl + chased
it over Alan [Racey] who shot
it
Aug [August] 19 [1931]. In the morning went across
the river - the traps taking
a shrew - 3 peromyscus, 1 vole
and one chipmunk.
The phenacomys traps drew a blank
Set out 2 more steel traps.
Saw 2 more sharp shinned hawks
a Goshawk + 2 marsh Hawks.
Aug [August] 20 [1931]. Took a flying squirrel
at long last - a fine large
male - I took him in a steel
trap set on a broken
stub at the edge of the
spruce at the south side
of the lake.
