- Porcupine (2) [circled]
Eva Lake. July 11./37 [1937] A porcupine disturbed
us during night. Chewing posts + steps of
cabin + unfortunately chewed off a
large portion of the cork handle of the
fishing rod which had been left standing
under verandah.
July 12/37 [1937]. Shortly after 5 a.m. on
going out I met the porcupine by the
corner of the cabin + chained it down
to the toilet where it took refuge. Then
I dispatched it, it proved to be an
old [female symbol]. Specimen no. [number] 116. During the
evening another of these animals was
seen at end of lake.
July 13/37 [1937]. Heard a porcupine
wandering around shack during night +
during the afternoon saw a large animal
about a mile + a half west of cabin when
on our way out.
