- Okanagan Falls, B.C. [British Columbia]
June 23, 1936.
Left Anarchist this morning
at about 11:30, lunched at Osoyoos
then swam in the lake + took a
plankton drag.
Ran north to Ok. [Okanagan] Falls + made
camp on E [East] side of Dog Lake just
outside Mr Hodie's garden. Nothing
of interest seen en route.
Several magpies + 1 rock wren
seen on Anarchist.
June 24. Okanagan Falls.
Got up at 5:30 + hiked back
to cliff E. [East] of Lake. Some W.-t. [White-throated] swifts
but very few + they all flew too
high, no rock wrens, 2 magpies
2 Lazuli Buntings + several orioles,
lark sparrows + chipping sparrows.
Later in morning went down to
high cliff at north end of Vasseaux
Shot at 7 swifts + bagged 3. The
wind blew one onto a ledge out
of my reach but I retrieved
the other two. In afternoon
went to see Mr Perem at S. [South] end
of Vasseaux - he says [James A.] Munro has
shot all the canyon wrens,
most of the chats + bobolinks
in the country - everyone very
bitter as regards said official
