Later in day [Ian McTaggart] Cowan collected a tiny
marmot - apprx [approximately] 4/5 weeks of age in the
large rock slide to north. Also a juv [juvenile]
+ an ad. [adult] Fox sparrow. He took a [female symbol] synaptomys
in a sedge nest in meadow below green
hill. This [female symbol] cont'd [contained] 4 fully formed embryos
July 9. 1937. - Picked up all steel
traps. During morning hunted along Eva trail
+ over hills north of lookout. Saw fresh
signs of caribou + deer. + in several
grassy meadows found nests of synaptomys.
In one meadow [Ian McTaggart] Cowan + I found 3 nests
+ five middens + later I found 3 more
nests + several middens. Took a [male symbol crossed out] Varied thrush
a Pine Siskin + a Junco all males. [Ian McTaggart] Cowan
met a [female symbol] Black Bear + cub. short distance
below synaptomys [meadow + old bear appeared ---> cut off at bottom, this is a guess]
