- are all out of the nests +
about 40 of them are in
a noisy throng about a
single dead tree. I noticed
the Tree Swallows flocking
this same way along the
Tahtsa River on July 21/36.
Set out 16 more mouse traps
in dwarf birch at edge of
spruce muskeg.
July 24, 1936. Ootsa Lake, B.C. [British Columbia]
Trapping poor, the night
was cold + windy with
thunder intermittently.
Took only 3 Microtus, 1 Peromyscus
1 Neotoma, 2 Eutamias. Shot
a [male symbol] Junco.
Noticed that Warbling
Vireos are definitely common
whereas I have not yet
heard a red eyed Vireo.
In the afternoon collected
plants + worked the Jack
pine stand on Mr Bennetts
land very thoroughly. There
are a few mouse runways
+ a little squirrel sign.
Birds seen - 3 Long Tailed Chickadee
2 Chipping sparrows, 2 Audubon
