consisted of piece of old ground squirrel
+ a piece of Kipper.
The L.T. [Long-Tailed] weasel was taken in a no [number] 1 jump
trap set at the base of a dead cedar. Bait was
squirrel, mouse + kipper. This weasel, a [female symbol]
was very large + fully developed.
July 25. 1937. Very little in traps today
Ran across two bear just above old
bridge. They were very frightened + made
off up the hill grunting + crashing
through the bush. Have heard these bear
+ have seen signs of them daily. They
have apparently been shutting some
of the flying squirrel traps + going after
the bait. Last night went bat
hunting last evening accompanied by
Joyce [Cowan]. Noticed three sorts of bats, the
small dark coloured alascensis, a
larger bat, probably lasionycteris + then
we saw a very large bat, it only appeared
once + this I believe to be a Nycteris cinereus.
Found a dead flying squirrel on trap
line amongst cedars. There were no marks
on the animal to indicate how it met its
death, was an imm. [immature] [female symbol] + very fly blown.
July 25. 1937 Packed up traps this am [morning],
another glaucomys in no [number] 1 trap (same trap in
which first was found). This animal had a
rather paler coloured tail than those
